The time has come: Veldhoven has a new coalition agreement. On May 22, 2026, Hart voor Veldhoven, GBV and GL/PvdA (PRO) presented the agreement 'In balans vooruit' to the municipal council. As the largest party in the council, we at Hart voor Veldhoven are pleased and proud of this result and of the role we are playing in it.
Two aldermen on behalf of Hart voor Veldhoven
Hart voor Veldhoven will provide two of the four aldermen in the new executive board. Huub Stroeks will take on the social domain: care, welfare, youth and education. These are topics that have always been close to our hearts. Ron Dillen will become responsible for the economy, finances, sports, public facilities and land policy. Together they form a strong and committed duo that will help move Veldhoven forward in the years ahead. On June 3, they will be officially appointed and sworn in by the municipal council.
From election programme to coalition agreement
Many of the promises we made to Veldhoven voters are reflected in this agreement. That gives us confidence. At least 400 homes will be built each year, 30% of them social housing, exactly as we advocated. Starter homes will remain affordable and accessible for new starters even after resale. Splitting homes and adding extra floors will be made easier, and it will be examined whether Veldhoven residents searching for a home can be given priority.
In the area of green space and sustainability, we see our efforts reflected in a standard of at least 8 m2 of quality green space per new-build home, and even 10 m2 in the Citycentrum. Trees will be better protected through a new tree policy, Burgemeester Elsenpark will be expanded, and the connection between the Citycentrum and the mobility hub at MMC will finally be given priority, a long-cherished ambition.
For young people and seniors, the agreement commits to meeting places in every neighbourhood, a fully fledged community building as the beating heart of the area, and free library membership for young people up to the age of 27. Residents who need financial support will be proactively informed about low-income support schemes, so that this help truly reaches the people it is intended for.
An agreement that connects
The coalition process started with a conversation between eight parties and resulted in an agreement among three. Formateur Ton Weekers described it as an organic process in which the parties found each other through content and ambition. We are pleased that this content is so recognisable for our voters.
Veldhoven is growing, but it remains itself. That is the common thread running through this agreement, and exactly the balance Hart voor Veldhoven has always stood for.
