Heart for Veldhoven,We get it done

Together we make Veldhoven stronger. Together we make a difference.

2026 election platform

Four years ago, three local parties joined forces. Since then, Heart for Veldhoven has grown to become the largest group in the municipal council, with 9 council members. Together with CDA, GroenLinks/PvdA, and D66, we've formed a stable coalition. In the executive board of mayor and aldermen, we provide two of the five aldermen. We're ready to continue leading Veldhoven forward with determination and responsibility in the coming term.

We stand at the heart of our community. For young and old. For residents, businesses, and organizations. For neighborhoods and districts. We listen, connect, and act, because Veldhoven deserves a government that delivers on its promises!

We're ready for the future. Are you?

The platform ofHeart for Veldhoven,

Detailed for voters who want to know more about us than just the priorities mentioned earlier.

Housing and living

We need to build much more housing, and as quickly as possible, to meet the demand for affordable housing for young and old. Sustainable building is our guiding principle.
  • Social rental housing makes up at least 30% of new construction
  • Mid-range rental and affordable homeownership also have our attention
  • Sufficient temporary housing, including relocatable homes, to quickly provide housing
  • We fully support (self-)build projects for starters and seniors
  • Starter homes remain affordable and are preserved for starters, even after resale
  • Long-vacant commercial buildings should be convertible into residential spaces
  • Fewer regulations to enable more construction
  • Encourage people to move to housing that fits their life stage
  • Enable home sharing and property subdivision
  • Veldhoven youth should have priority to continue living here

Jobs and economy

Veldhoven is the heart of Brainport, with ASML, suppliers, and a strong small and medium-sized business sector. Together they provide jobs, innovation, and a healthy economic climate. We want every neighborhood and every business to continue benefiting from this.
  • We ensure good basic services in every neighborhood, such as local shops or primary care like general practitioners
  • We allow small-scale facilities and home-based businesses in neighborhoods
  • We provide tailored solutions to entrepreneurs and homeowners in implementing the vision for de Run and Run 8000
  • We actively seek alternatives to resolve grid congestion
  • Through the city center master plan, we create an attractive shopping and living environment in the city center
  • We want to maintain two hours of free parking, especially during the city center transformation. This partially compensates for the disruption from future construction work

Care and wellbeing

In Veldhoven, we care for each other. We focus on appropriate care, strong neighborhoods, and attention to those who are vulnerable. Together we create a community where everyone feels seen and supported.
  • We invest in youth care through prevention with everyone involved with young people
  • Youth care should be more tailored to the young person in need, from the perspective of 'the child first'
  • We work together to find customized solutions
  • We pay more attention to informal caregivers—they are indispensable and invaluable
  • We strongly encourage neighborhood initiatives like mutual support
  • We remind residents that we must do this together and depend on each other

Focus on seniors

We pay attention to the growing group of seniors in Veldhoven. Safety, vitality, connection, and joy are important priorities.
  • We recognize the connecting and experienced strength of seniors in our municipality and want to utilize this
  • In every neighborhood, we want a meeting place where people see, talk to, and help each other
  • People should be able to stay in their own environment as long as possible through appropriate housing options and good support
  • We prevent loneliness and exclusion by promoting connection and involvement
  • We encourage living in 'senior co-housing' and other housing forms for seniors
  • Digitalization must not exclude seniors
  • We support informal care and respite care to relieve professional care; we value the commitment of family and volunteers

Focus on youth

Young people are our future—we must set them up for success. Opportunities, life prospects, housing, having a voice, and participation are essential.
  • We value young people's opinions—they are Veldhoven's future
  • We talk with young people, not just about them
  • Maximum effort to enable young people to live independently in Veldhoven
  • We offer tailored support to prevent loneliness and exclusion
  • We encourage participation in sports and community life
  • We want facilities for youth under 18

Sports, culture, and recreation

Local cultural institutions and organizations are important to our residents and should remain so. We believe they should operate independently, but we support them where needed. A healthy and vital lifestyle for our residents is important for an active society.
  • Events and organizations promote vibrancy in Veldhoven and can count on our support
  • Applying for a (renewal) permit should be easier—we work with organizers on this
  • Strive for optimal use of sports facilities, even outside sports hours—think daycare, schools, and seniors
  • Cultural institutions will collaborate more by utilizing each other's expertise
  • Sports and physical activity remain important for everyone. Young and old can count on extra support and encouragement
  • Our sports facilities are well-maintained and grow with Veldhoven—from scaling up to social expansion
  • We fully support optimal use of sports facilities
  • Timely investment in new sports trends like padel

Education for maximum opportunity

Good education is of the utmost importance—everyone deserves an equal chance. Addressing language and numeracy gaps is crucial.
  • We want extra funds, such as those from the Beethoven Deal, to also be used to address gaps in elementary education
  • Facilitate after-school care in or near school buildings
  • Make school buildings available as meeting places for neighborhood activities
  • We actively address school dropout rates, putting the child first
  • We offer education to anyone who wants to learn Dutch, so everyone can participate

Greener Veldhoven

Veldhoven is green, and we want to keep it that way. By actively promoting green spaces, we make our municipality healthier, more beautiful, and better to live in.
  • Further expand public greenery and biodiversity
  • We want to better protect trees—we'll create a clear plan for this
  • The municipality leads by example by preventing unnecessary tree removal
  • We aim for 8 square meters of green space added per new home, but 10 square meters in the city center
  • We encourage residents to make their own gardens greener
  • Homeowners and tenants can make their homes more sustainable under favorable conditions

Accessibility and traffic safety

Veldhoven must be easily accessible and traffic must flow smoothly. Cyclists and pedestrians can move safely through all neighborhoods.
  • Cyclists and pedestrians have priority in neighborhoods—cars are guests
  • We're expanding the current bike parking and want to realize a large, central, and permanent facility as soon as possible in the new city center
  • There must be a good public transport network with a direct connection from the city center to the hospital
  • The Habraken business park must also be easily accessible by public transport
  • We mow grass verges near roundabouts and intersections on time to ensure good visibility and increase safety
  • Air traffic can only expand with quieter and cleaner aircraft—noise pollution must decrease
  • Within regional consultation, we encourage the construction of a complete ring road around Eindhoven for car traffic
Opening of secure bike parking at city center.

Safety for everyone

In neighborhoods and streets, there is more attention to safety, livability, and social contacts.
  • Children should be able to play and cycle freely and safely in their own neighborhood. We strengthen this together with parents and neighbors who watch out for this
  • We invest in active neighborhood and village councils in good facilities, such as school buildings
  • We encourage better use of the 'Buiten-beter app' so street problems are resolved more quickly
  • We bring back neighborhood inspections so residents and municipality tackle safety issues together
  • We support neighborhood watch programs—an alert neighborhood is a safe neighborhood
  • Nuisance is actively and specifically addressed. When there's damage, we hold the perpetrator accountable

A role for everyone

We want to ensure that everyone in Veldhoven can and may participate and that no one is left behind.
  • We focus on what people can do, with or despite their limitations
  • For financial support from the municipality, we may also expect something in return
  • There are many ways to actively contribute to Veldhoven's community, such as buddy programs and volunteer work

Municipal finances in order

We want to handle public funds responsibly. Our residents and businesses should not face additional costs.
  • We want to minimize hiring external consultants to avoid unnecessarily high costs and keep knowledge in-house
  • We want to work smarter and more efficiently by combining activities
  • The municipality's budget is balanced
  • We keep the municipal budget balanced and taxes for residents and businesses as low as possible
  • Raising taxes is not our automatic solution to budget shortfalls. There are multiple ways to address the financial challenges of the coming years
